Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy

If you or a loved one needs neuromuscular therapy, Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care’s expert therapy team includes physical, speech, occupational and respiratory therapists, nurses, and a registered dietitian who can help with your rehabilitation services.

We know each individual with a neuromuscular condition has unique abilities and medical needs. In our regular care plan meetings, we work with you and your loved ones to develop goals and the appropriate treatment plan to help you reach them.

At Bethesda, we partner with Accelerated Care Plus (ACP) to offer Patterned Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (PENS). PENS is a patented form of electrical stimulation that helps nerves and muscles work together to achieve normal movement after injury or disease, and this type of therapy can help treat conditions such as Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis and help with muscle re-education.

Neuromuscular conditions we commonly treat using PENS and other rehab therapies:
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Spinal muscular atrophy
We specialize in evaluating and treating:
  • Cognitive or linguistic impairments
  • Disturbance in gait or mobility
  • Involuntary movement
  • Muscle weakness, tightness or spasticity
  • Speech and language impairments or swallowing disorders
