Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care is the first and only facility in the Chicagoland area offering this specialized therapy.
Snoezelen, a term composed of the Dutch words for “explore” and “relax”, is a multi-sensory, therapeutic experience that was designed by Dutch therapists in the 1970s. Snoezelen therapies have been proven to lessen the psychological impacts of aging and decline, and provide a calming effect to residents needing varying levels of care.
Sensory Center is a unique feature of our Alzheimer’s and dementia care services. We are the only care community in the area that has a sensory center that helps to connect persons in the later stages of the disease to their environment and surroundings.
The different items the Sensory Center offer a variety of sensory experiences that enhance the lives of our residents who suffer from sensory loss, chronic pain, memory loss, or dementia. Our specially trained staff can help non-verbal and low-functioning patients find relaxation, relief, and stimulation in Bethesda’s Sensory Center.
Bethesda’s Sensory Center was generously provided by a grant from the Russell & Josephine Kott Memorial Charitable Trust.
