Fall Prevention

Fall Prevention

Did you know that one in three older Americans falls every year? Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries for people aged 65+.

Falls can result in hip fractures, broken bones, and head injuries. Even minor falls without a major injury can cause an older adult to become fearful or depressed, making it difficult to enjoy an active lifestyle.

At Bethesda, we know that the most common factors that can lead to a fall are often unavoidable parts of the aging process:
  • Decreased balance and gait
  • Impaired vision or vision loss
  • Impaired hearing or hearing loss
  • Medications
  • Unsafe environment
  • Other chronic conditions
At Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care, our staff works hard to reduce your risk of falling. During your stay, we develop a personalized fall prevention program as a part of your care plan. Even after you’re discharged, we work with you and your loved ones to prevent future falls and keep you happy and healthy.
