Who owns and operates Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care?
Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care is proud to be a community-minded, independent, locally owned and operated nonprofit for all of our 109-year history. A not-for-profit Illinois corporation, Norwegian Lutheran Bethesda Home Association, Inc., owns and operates Bethesda. A volunteer Board of Directors guides business affairs, the Chief Executive Officer oversees daily operations, and experienced staff manages various departments.
How does one become a Bethesda resident?
You can obtain admissions information by calling, emailing, or stopping by Bethesda. We encourage you to review the materials, then call to arrange for a tour of Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care.
May I furnish my own room at Bethesda?
Yes. Although our Sheltered Care rooms are furnished with a bed and dresser, a treasured curio cabinet or special lounge chair will help a new resident feel at home. Intermediate and Skilled Care rooms are furnished with a bed, wardrobe and nightstand. Residents often bring pictures, pillows, blankets, and other decorative and personal items to feel right at home. Our short-term rehab and respite care residents are also encouraged to personalize their rooms with similar items.
May I use a TV, radio, or other electrical appliance in my room?
Yes. Televisions and radios are welcomed and a central antennae hook-up is provided for improved TV reception. Because of concern for resident safety, however, other appliances such as hot plates or coffee pots are not permitted.
When can my friends and family visit?
Visitors are welcome at any time as long as the resident's wishes are observed, including regard for his or her personal schedule. Guests should sign the guest register in the front lobby and wear an identification badge during their visit. The front lobby is open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily.
What is sheltered care?
Sheltered care is similar to assisted living but provides more assistance with activities of daily living. These activities can include bathing, dressing, medication reminds, etc. For more information on the sheltered care program at Bethesda, click here.
What form of payment is accepted at Bethesda?
For most of our long-term care, short-term rehab, and specialty programs, we accept:
